Horses lose body heat via sweat, efficient muscle function is dependent on it. But the loss of water, vital salts & minerals can result in muscle cramping and tying up. These electrolytes must be replaced as quickly and efficiently as possible.
 
It seems ironic, but when sodium levels drop in a horse its desire to drink reduces and therefore it exacerbates the condition of dehydration. So lost electrolytes must be replaced as quickly and efficiently as possible.
 
Electrolyte replacement should contain Chloride and Sodium at a ratio of approximately 2:1, as well as Calcium and Magnesium at low levels. Vetpro Equine Electrolytes provides this in a neutral PH composition.
